IMMEDIATE OPPORTUNITY :: UPDATE!
ANTI-HUMAN TRAFFICKING BILL for COLORADO
The 2010 Anti-Human Trafficking Bill for Colorado has received bi-partisan support. Testimony in support of the bill will happen this Wednesday, Feb. 17 at 1:30 in the Senate Judiciary Committee. The intent is to add human trafficking to the Organized Crime Acts so that Colorado can break trafficking rings with great force. It gives our prosecutors power to help our cause, and it again puts Colorado on the cutting edge of trafficking prosecutions.
We need people to come out in support of this bill at the committee, and people to cover and attend the press conference (TBD) to bring this issue to the attention of all Colorado.
Show up at 1:30 at the Capitol (200 E Colfax Ave Denver, CO 80203) at the Senate Judiciary Committee. Pack the room and the halls and talk to everyone about ending slavery. Go through metal detectors at either the North or South entrances, and the guards can guide you to the room. You can also sign up to speak in favor of the bill at the Committee hearing room. You can have a direct voice with the legislators and let them know how important freedom is to you. This will be a wonderful experience in democracy. Please invite your friends who stand against slavery, and let’s continue to work together to end this right now.

Here at iE, we spend the overwhelming majority of our time using mixed-media art forms to raise awareness and resources for overlooked grassroots efforts that are profoundly impacting the lives of vulnerable and victimized children. Many who have engaged in the issues we represent have also inquired about how to support us as an organization. In response, we are hosting a monthly iEmpathize Showcase that immerses people in our advocacy experiences and features ways to partner with us. The showcase highlights our field partnerships and projects explaining how and why we support them. Business leaders are introduced to the weEmpathize initiative and the public can learn how to host us. Our first showcase was at the Boulder Museum of Contemporary Art and was a great success.

If you live in the Denver area we invite you to attend next month’s showcase. We would like to thank the restaurant Snooze (2262 Larimer Street) for hosting us March 13th in downtown Denver. Contact info@iempathize to get on the list to attend. Don’t forget to invite others who might be interested in the showcase!

MARK YOUR CALENDARS!!! July 24th :: Denver CO

This summer, on July 24th, Colorado will come together to raise tens of thousands of dollars in one day for the protection and restoration of vulnerable children. YOU can make a tangible difference and have a blast doing it.
The Scooter Hero Ride and Rally is a citywide publicity, awareness, and fundraising event inspired by one of our Cambodian field partnerships.
- The Ride and Walk is an event where a couple hundred scooters and several hundred walkers raise mass awareness and tens of thousands of dollars for vulnerable children. We will be led through LoDo by the Denver Police “parade style” from the Pepsi Center to Coors Field and back again.
- The Rally is the celebration after the ride that features iE’s mixed media and a concert downtown… details to come.
