Nepal’s Current Crisis

Located in South Asia and home of the world’s highest mountain, Mount Everest, Nepal is a country of spectacular beauty and historical richness. The land of the Himalayas welcomes tourists from all over the world to come and experience its incredible natural splendors. Nonetheless, in stark contrast to the beauty and the allure of its geography and culture, Nepal embodies an internal crisis. As a major player in the perpetuation of human trafficking, the situation remains dire. In 2000, the abolition of debt-bondage slavery in Nepal was enacted, but with a lack of substance in the law, rendering it botched and ineffective.
